Street Performers in Jackson Square, New Orleans, LA

Historic Jackson Square, originally known in the 18th century as “Place d’Armes,” is a must-experience attraction found right in the heart of the French Quarter of New Orleans. For over a half-century, there has been an open-air artist colony that sets up at Jackson Square. Local artists paint, draw, create portraits and caricatures, and display their work on the square’s iron fence. Street Performers range from musicians, to mimes, to astrologers. Locals tell us that some have been setting up shop there for generations.

While on my adventures early April, I came across these street performers in Jackson Square. They were incredible. There’s so much talent in New Orleans. In fact, watching performers outdid eating good food. If you go, be sure to cruise through Jackson Square and eat Fresh Crawfish at the French Market.
